Hello! My name is Mr. Creel, and I teach 8th grade Social Studies. I am extremely excited to be teaching these subjects and am looking forward to an incredibly productive school year.
Just a little about myself: I am born and raised in Eastern NC; originally from Lenoir County and graduated high school in Wayne County. I acquired my Bachelor’s in History and English from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. I currently live in Wilson with my wife of six years (also a teacher in the district; at the early college) and my two year old daughter. I enjoy watching and playing football (Tar Heels & Bears fan), ultimate frisbee, fantasy football, camping at Cliffs of the Neuse, and spending time with my family.
Another passion of mine is U.S. and N.C. history and I hope that I will be able to instill that same excitement in each student this year. We will use a mixture of open discussions, research projects, group work and collaborations, debates, etc. to try to not only teach history but make it exciting and enjoyable.
This year I will strive to strengthen each student's skills while also creating an enjoyable classroom experience. I truly believe that each child’s success will be a joint effort between myself, the other SEMS staff/administration, parents and students. Let’s work hard and have a great 2018-19 school year! Go Dragons!
