Athletic Update

We are aware of the announcement made by the NCHSAA that the dead period for high school sports will be lifted on June 15 at the discretion of each LEA.

Edgecombe County Public Schools will remain in a dead period through July 27, 2020.

Principals and Athletic Directors, along with our county leadership, are reviewing the guidelines from the NCHSAA and are working on a district-wide plan to prepare for the safe return to participation of our student athletes and coaches. The district-wide plan will include guidelines and procedures to ensure the health and safety of all participants.

EoY Celebrations Announcement

An Update from Mr. Strother

Good evening, Dragon families. This is Mr. Strother, with a few important announcements.
Remote learning ends on June 2. We will have 3 student “return” days on June 1st-3rd from 9:00-1:00 where we collect all school property including chromebooks, band instruments, books, etc.

We will collect these items at the exterior door of the learning commons (library) so families will not have to enter the building. The only students/families who will enter the building are those who need to get personal items and/or medications. Please know that medicines not picked up by June 3 will be discarded per ECPS policy.

The logistics for our “return” days are as follows:

For returns:
1. Please pull in the car-rider pickup/drop off line.

2. Drive up to the orange cone and park. The side door of the library will be open so you do not have to enter the building.

3. To maximize social distancing we will only assist one family at a time so please remain in your car until a staff member waves you in.

This is a very quick process that should take less than 2-3 minutes.

For pickups (medications and personal belongings):
1. Please pull in the parking lot closest to the MultiPurpose Room and park in a parking space.

2. Enter the building at the main entrance and report to the front office.

We do have one additional announcement:

The SEMS staff has several celebrations planned for our students next Monday and Tuesday. Stay tuned for Academic and Athletic Awards presentations as well as a slideshow for our 8th grade class.
