South Edgecombe Middle School

6th grade Week At A Glance

04/22/2024

Our May Ball will be held on May 10th from 6:00-8:00.  We wanted to inform families early so they can make arrangements as necessary.  We do want families to know that students can dress as formal as they would like, however, formal attire is not a requirement for this event.

Any student who is assigned to OSS or ISS between March 1st and the day of the dance (March 1 - May 10) will not be eligible to attend the May Ball.  This includes situations where a student has become ineligible due to a disciplinary issue after parents have already spent money on outfits, shoes, hair, etc.

The cost of admission will be $10.  This covers the cost of the DJ, decorations, and required security.

Important: New SUN Bucks Program Coming Soon to North Carolina!

The State of North Carolina is launching the new SUN Bucks Program, a food assistance program that will provide benefits to qualifying students and families to help purchase healthy foods during the summer months. Eligible students may receive their SUN Bucks card this summer at their mailing address on file at their school. If your child is approved for or receives National School Lunch Program Free or Reduced-Price meals at their school, they may automatically qualify to receive SUN Bucks this summer.   Visit ncdhhs.gov/sunbucks to learn more!

Summer Teamship- Summer Camp Opportunity

This summer ECPS will host a summer camp for rising 7th-12th graders.   Click to watch the Summer Teamship Video.
This experience is a free 7 day program centered around a reimagined internship experience that prepares students for modern work experiences. In Teamship, students will work in teams with peers from across the district to gain valuable skills as they work to solve real problems for real businesses. Students who attend the 7 day program will be eligible for a stipend ($$$).
Students will need to complete an interest/registration form if they want to be considered for the internship program. Seats are limited to 48 students. Students will be admitted on a first-come-first-served basis. You can find more information and the interest/registration form at this website.  District C Summer Teamship Website
